There is a reason for that. It offers a balance between: * simplicity, * speed, * reliability, * comfort, * portability. For most students, it simply gets the job done without unnecessary complexity. ### Why Students Like Casio MJ-12D #### Compact and Easy to Carry Many CA students carry calculators daily to coaching classes, libraries, study rooms, and exams. The MJ-12D is compact enough to fit easily inside bags without taking much space. #### Fast Enough for Most Students The button response is smooth and quick for normal accounting and taxation calculations. Students who are already comfortable with standard desktop calculators usually adapt to it immediately. #### Trusted by Large Number of CA Students One major reason students buy this model is familiarity. When thousands of students around you are already using the same calculator, it creates trust and reduces confusion. #### Good Balance Between Size and Comfort The calculator is neither too small nor too large. That balance makes it practical for: * exam desks, * home study, * coaching usage, * travel. ### Possible Limitations of MJ-12D Although the MJ-12D works perfectly for most students, some students eventually feel: * buttons are slightly closer together, * screen could be larger, * long-hour usage can feel slightly cramped. This is where the DJ-120D becomes attractive. ## Casio DJ-120D: Better for Heavy Usage? ### Casio DJ-120D [![Casio DJ-120D Calculator with Bigger Screen](https://thesushant.in/affiliate/assets/images/1778117213.webp) Casio DJ-120D Calculator with Bigger Screen ★ 3.9 ₹759 Check on Amazon ↗](https://thesushant.in/affiliate/api/redirect.php?id=64) The Casio DJ-120D is designed for students who prefer a larger calculator layout and more spacious button arrangement. Many students preparing for: * long study hours, * multiple mock tests, * advanced practice, * heavy accounting calculations, often prefer this model because of comfort. ### Why Some Students Prefer DJ-120D #### Bigger Button Layout One of the biggest advantages is spacing. The buttons feel more open and easier to press quickly during continuous calculations. Students with larger hands especially tend to prefer this. #### Larger Display The display is bigger and easier to read during fast calculations. This helps reduce: * input mistakes, * reading confusion, * calculation verification issues. #### Better for Long Sessions If you solve hundreds of practical questions daily, calculator comfort actually matters more than students initially realize. The DJ-120D feels more comfortable during extended sessions. #### More Premium Feel Compared to MJ-12D, the DJ-120D feels slightly more premium and heavier in hand. Some students psychologically prefer this because it feels more stable during desk usage. ### Possible Limitations of DJ-120D The main drawback is portability. Compared to MJ-12D: * it occupies more space, * feels bulkier, * may feel unnecessary for casual users. Students who want a lightweight and simple setup may still prefer MJ-12D. ## Which Calculator Is Faster for CA Exams? In practical usage, both calculators are fast enough for CA exams. The real difference comes from: * familiarity, * finger comfort, * button spacing, * practice consistency. A student using MJ-12D daily for 6 months will usually outperform someone who keeps changing calculators repeatedly. Calculator speed mostly comes from muscle memory. That is why students should avoid changing calculators frequently before exams. ## Are Both Calculators Allowed in CA Exams? Yes. Both calculators are: * non-scientific, * non-programmable, * ICAI compliant basic electronic calculators. They are generally considered safe for CA exams. Students often waste time overthinking calculator selection while ignoring: * calculation practice, * speed building, * revision, * accuracy. A basic ICAI-allowed calculator is enough. The important thing is: * use one calculator consistently, * develop calculation speed, * become comfortable with button positions, * avoid switching models frequently before exams. ## Common Mistakes Students Make ### Buying Scientific Calculators Accidentally Many students unknowingly buy scientific models because they look “advanced.” Scientific calculators are not allowed in CA exams. ### Changing Calculator Repeatedly Constantly changing calculator models slows down finger speed and creates confusion during exams. ### Choosing Only Based on Price The cheapest option is not always the most comfortable for long-term usage. ### Ignoring Button Comfort Button layout matters more than many students realize during heavy accounting practice. ## Final Verdict For most CA Foundation students, the Casio MJ-12D remains the safest overall choice because of: * simplicity, * reliability, * widespread usage, * portability, * exam comfort. However, if you study heavily every day and prefer larger buttons with more comfortable spacing, the Casio DJ-120D can be a better long-term option.
