# Why many students may face problems if they attempt IA on the last day

Students preparing for the upcoming DU SOL Semester-II Internal Assessment are now entering an important phase, especially after the University of Delhi officially released detailed instructions for the online MCQ-based IA scheduled from 13 May 2026 to 19 May 2026.

But while many students are currently focused on subjects, preparation, and login details, one issue is quietly becoming more important across student discussions — attempting the IA on the very last day could create unnecessary problems for many candidates.

Interestingly, this is something students often realize only after facing technical issues themselves.

The online Internal Assessment will be conducted for Undergraduate Semester-II students under the UGCF-NEP semester scheme through the SOL and Campus of Open Learning portal. The assessment window remains open for seven days, and students have the flexibility to attempt their papers anytime between 13 May and 19 May 2026.

At first glance, that flexibility sounds comfortable.

However, one important detail is now drawing attention among students who have previously experienced portal slowdowns, login failures, internet interruptions, and auto-submission issues during online assessments.

According to the official instructions, there will be **no further extension** after 19 May 2026. Once the portal closes, students may not get another opportunity to attempt their IA.

That is where things become important.

Many students traditionally wait until the final day thinking it gives them more preparation time. But online assessment systems often witness their highest traffic near the deadline. When thousands of students try logging in simultaneously, server load can increase sharply, sometimes creating delays, lag, or failed submissions.

Several students are already discussing concerns around this, especially because the notice clearly mentions that students are strictly prohibited from switching windows during the examination, as this may lead to auto-submission.

For students attempting the IA casually on a mobile device while multitasking, this instruction could become risky.

The university has specifically advised students to attempt the assessment using a Desktop or Laptop with stable internet connectivity. This instruction may look routine, but many students overlook how sensitive online MCQ systems can become during live assessments.

Even a temporary internet fluctuation, accidental tab switch, browser refresh, or device issue during the last day could create unnecessary panic.

One thing many students may overlook is that once the assessment starts, it must be completed within the allotted time. After that, it will automatically be treated as “Attempted.”

Students will receive:

* 45 minutes for regular candidates
* 90 minutes for PwBD students

The notice also mentions that students will get a maximum of two attempts for each paper, and the best score will be considered for Internal Assessment purposes.

That may sound reassuring initially.

But if a student wastes one attempt due to technical carelessness or last-minute pressure, the second attempt suddenly becomes far more stressful.

Another detail now gaining attention is the “Submit” rule. The final submit option will only appear after all questions have been attempted. Students rushing through the exam at the last minute without understanding the portal properly may face confusion during submission.

This is exactly why the university is strongly advising students to take the mock test before appearing for the final assessment.

For many students, especially first-year learners still adjusting to the online SOL system, the mock test may help avoid avoidable mistakes during the real IA window.

The login process itself also requires attention.

Students must log in using:

* SOL Roll Number
* Barcode credentials used during admission

The assessment can be accessed through:

* pragyan.oldcdu.ac.in
* or via the SOL website

Another important restriction mentioned in the instructions is that students will be allowed to log in from only one device at a time.

This could become a major issue for students who repeatedly switch between phone, tablet, and laptop while trying to access the portal on the final day.

Meanwhile, students are also being advised to take screenshots of their obtained scores after completing the IA and preserve them until semester results are officially declared. Many students ignore this step initially but later search for proof during result-related confusion.

For technical assistance, the university has also shared helpline support and offline help centres for both male and female students in Delhi.

As the assessment window approaches, the overall message becoming clearer for students is simple: flexibility does not necessarily mean waiting till the last moment is safe.

The IA period may last seven days, but the final day often becomes the most unpredictable one.

Students who attempt earlier may not only avoid technical pressure but also get enough time to use their second attempt calmly if required.

With DU SOL Semester-II Internal Assessments now officially scheduled, attention is expected to remain high among students over the coming days, especially as many continue searching for portal updates, mock test access, login guidance, and practical exam-related clarity before the assessment window begins.
