CA Foundation Admit Card 2026 – How to Read It and Important Instructions

CA Foundation Admit Card 2026 – How to Read It and Important Instructions

This article explains, in simple and practical terms, how to read your CA Foundation Admit Card 2026 and how to follow the instructions printed on it. The aim is clarity — so that you know exactly what each detail means, what you must check, and what mistakes to avoid.

The admit card is not just an entry pass. It is a technical document that controls your identity, exam centre, paper timings, and examination rules. Small errors or negligence here can lead to unnecessary stress, delayed entry, or even problems in evaluation. Understanding it properly reduces risk.

1. What Is the CA Foundation Admit Card and Why It Matters

The CA Foundation admit card is an official document issued by ICAI through the SSP portal. It serves four main purposes:

  1. Proof of your identity as a registered candidate
  2. Permission to enter the examination centre
  3. Official confirmation of your exam centre, date, and timing
  4. Instruction manual for exam conduct

Without a valid admit card, you are not allowed to enter the exam hall, regardless of your preparation level. Even minor mismatches in personal details or photograph clarity can create last‑minute problems.

This is why ICAI repeatedly advises students to download, print, and carefully verify their admit card well before the examination.

2. Where and How to Download the Admit Card

You must download the admit card only from the ICAI SSP portal. ICAI does not send physical admit cards by post.

General process:

  • Login to SSP portal
  • Go to Examination → Admit Card” section
  • Select CA Foundation Attempt
  • Take at least two clear printouts

Why two printouts?

  • One is submitted/verified at the exam centre
  • One should remain with you as backup

Avoid using blurred or low‑ink prints. Your photograph, roll number, and centre details must be clearly visible.

3. How to Read the Admit Card – Section by Section

Let’s break the admit card into practical parts so you know what to verify.

(A) Candidate’s Name

This should exactly match your ICAI registration record.

Check for:

  • Spelling errors
  • Missing middle name or surname

Why it matters:
Your marksheet and certificate are generated using this name. Mistakes can cause future document correction hassles.

(B) Registration Number

This is your permanent ICAI student identity.

Use of registration number:

  • Exam forms
  • Result checking
  • Marksheet
  • Certificates
  • Future ICAI correspondence

If wrong: Immediately report through SSP portal or ICAI helpline before the exam.

(C) Roll Number

This is your exam session-specific identity.

Used for:

  • Attendance register
  • OMR answer sheet
  • Answer book tagging

Mistakes to avoid:

  • Writing wrong roll number
  • Writing roll number at unauthorised places

(D) Medium of Examination

Your selected language — English or Hindi.

Why important:

  • Paper 1 & 2 answers must be written only in this medium
  • Medium mismatch can cause evaluation confusion

(E) Examination Centre Details

Includes:

  • Centre name
  • Full address
  • City
  • Pincode

What you should do:

  • Locate the centre on Google Maps in advance
  • Estimate travel time
  • Plan arrival accordingly

Practical advice:
Visit the centre one day before if possible.

(F) Photograph and Signature

Your uploaded photo and signature appear on the admit card.

If unclear or cropped:
ICAI requires you to paste a fresh photograph and signature on an A4 sheet, mention your registration number, name, course, and roll number, get it attested by an ICAI member, and carry it in duplicate to the exam centre.

This is not a formality — unclear identity proof can create serious verification issues.

4. Understanding the Examination Timings Clearly

Many students lose marks due to misunderstanding exam timings. Let’s make it clear.

(A) Reporting Time

Entry Time: 1:15 PM (IST)

You should reach the centre by 1:15 PM, not at 1:50 or 1:55.

Late entry is permitted only till 2:15 PM. After that, entry is denied.

Reality: Traffic delays, security checks, and seating arrangements take time. Arriving early reduces stress.

(B) Reading Time

For Paper 1 & 2 only:

  • Reading Time: 1:45 PM to 2:00 PM

This 15-minute window is for:

  • Reading questions
  • Planning answers

You cannot write during this time.

No reading time is given for Paper 3 & 4 (MCQ papers).

(C) Writing Time

Paper Time
Paper 1 – Accounting 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Paper 2 – Business Laws 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Paper 3 – Quantitative Aptitude 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Paper 4 – Business Economics 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

You cannot leave the exam hall before the exam ends.

5. MCQ Booklet Number – One of the Most Critical Details

For Paper 3 & 4, you will receive:

  • MCQ question booklet
  • OMR answer sheet

You must:

  • Write the correct MCQ booklet number in:
    • Attendance register
    • OMR sheet
  • Darken the matching circle correctly

ICAI clearly states:
If you write the wrong booklet number, ICAI will not take responsibility for correction.

Practical meaning:
Your entire paper can get mismatched — affecting evaluation.

This is one of the most common avoidable mistakes.

6. Acknowledgement Record – Why You Must Take Invigilator’s Signature

On the second page of the admit card, there is a table for:

  • Invigilator’s signature after each paper

Purpose:
This is proof that you submitted your answer book / OMR sheet.

If any answer book goes missing, this becomes your evidence.

Never skip this step.

7. What to Carry to the Exam Centre

Mandatory Items

  • Printed admit card (2 copies recommended)
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Black ball point pens
  • HB pencils (for OMR)
  • Eraser
  • Scale
  • Simple battery-operated calculator (as per ICAI rules)

Identity Safety Backup

If your photo/signature is unclear:

  • Attested A4 identity sheet as instructed

8. Strictly Prohibited Items

  • Mobile phones
  • Smart watches
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Earphones
  • AI glasses
  • Notes, chits, books

Consequence:
Possession itself can lead to cancellation of exam.

9. Do’s and Don’ts – Explained Practically

Important Do’s

  • Reach by 1:15 PM
  • Sit only on your allotted seat
  • Write roll number only at specified places
  • Use black pen only (Paper 1 & 2)
  • Use HB pencil for OMR
  • Sign attendance register
  • Take invigilator signature after submission

Important Don’ts

  • Do not use coloured pens or highlighters
  • Do not write religious symbols or slogans
  • Do not write appeals like “please give marks”
  • Do not tear OMR sheet
  • Do not exchange stationery

These rules are meant to maintain uniform evaluation and discipline.

10. What to Do If There Is an Error in Admit Card

If you find mistakes in:

  • Name spelling
  • Photograph
  • Medium
  • Centre details

Immediately report it through:

  • SSP portal support
  • ICAI exam helpline

Do not wait till exam day.

11. Common Student Mistakes and Their Consequences

Mistake Consequence
Late arrival Denied entry
Wrong booklet number Evaluation risk
Carrying phone Disqualification
Wrong medium writing Possible loss of marks
No invigilator signature Proof problem

12. Final Practical Advice

The CA Foundation exam is not just a test of knowledge — it is also a test of discipline and compliance.

Most exam-day problems are not academic, they are procedural:

  • Forgetting documents
  • Misreading timings
  • Ignoring instructions

Read your admit card like a technical document, not like a formality.

If you understand each line, you reduce risk and walk into the exam hall with clarity.

Summary

Your CA Foundation Admit Card 2026 is:

  • Your identity
  • Your entry pass
  • Your instruction manual

Treat it seriously. Read every line. Follow every rule. That discipline alone saves many students from avoidable mistakes.
