For many DU SOL Semester-II students, Internal Assessment marks are no longer being seen as “just another small component” of the semester. As the online MCQ-based IA window approaches, conversations among students are increasingly shifting toward one question — how much impact could these marks actually have on final results?
And this concern is not appearing randomly.
The University of Delhi’s School of Open Learning and Campus of Open Learning have officially announced that the Online MCQ-Based Internal Assessment for Undergraduate Semester-II students under the UGCF-NEP scheme will be conducted from 13 May 2026 to 19 May 2026.

While the schedule itself was expected, what is now drawing attention is the growing realization among students that Internal Assessment marks could play a major role in overall semester performance, especially for those who struggle later in theory examinations.
For many students, this has completely changed the seriousness around the IA.
Why DU SOL Students Are Suddenly Taking Internal Assessment Seriously
Interestingly, a large number of students initially viewed the online assessment as something they could attempt casually during the final days. But after reading the detailed instructions more carefully, many are beginning to understand that every mark may matter more than expected under the semester system.
This is where things become important.
Several students are now discussing how Internal Assessment marks can sometimes help during borderline result situations. Even a few additional marks may influence:
- Final percentage
- Subject-wise passing status
- SGPA calculations
- Overall semester performance
For students who are weak in written theory exams, IA marks may become one of the safest scoring opportunities available throughout the semester.
That is one reason why attention around the upcoming assessment has increased sharply.
DU SOL IA 2026 Dates and Official Schedule
According to the official notice, the Online MCQ-Based Internal Assessment window for Semester-II students will remain open from:
13 May 2026 to 19 May 2026
The university has already clarified that no further extension is expected after the deadline. Students can attempt their assessments anytime within these seven days.
That means waiting until the final hours could become risky, especially if technical problems occur.
Two Attempts Rule: One Major Opportunity Students Should Not Ignore
One of the biggest details now attracting attention among students is the “two attempts” rule.
Under the official instructions issued by the Department of Distance and Continuing Education, students will receive:
- Two attempts for each paper
- The best score will be considered for Internal Assessment purposes
At first, this sounds like a relief. But it also creates a major opportunity for students who prepare properly instead of treating the assessment casually.
Many students are now planning to use the first attempt as a practice round and improve their score in the second attempt.
Important Time Limit Rules Students Must Understand
Another detail many students may overlook is the strict timing structure.
According to the official instructions:
Regular Students
- 45 minutes
PwBD Students
- 90 minutes
The university has also clarified that once the exam begins, it must be completed within the allotted duration. Otherwise, the assessment will still be marked as “Attempted.”
This becomes important for students who:
- Leave the assessment midway
- Face internet interruptions
- Switch devices during the exam
- Accidentally close the browser
In online MCQ systems, even small mistakes can create submission issues.
Browser Switching Warning Could Create Problems for Many Students
One instruction now becoming a serious concern involves browser activity during the examination.
The university has specifically warned students not to switch browser windows or tabs during the IA. Doing so may lead to auto-submission.
This is especially important for students attempting the assessment on mobile devices while constantly switching between:
- Telegram groups
- Notes apps
- Browsers
- PDF files
Many students casually multitask during online tests, but this IA may not allow that safely.
Why DU SOL Is Advising Students to Use Laptop or Desktop
The university has specifically advised students to use Desktop or Laptop systems with stable internet connectivity while attempting the assessment.
Another important instruction states that students will only be allowed to log in from one device at a time.
This has now become another discussion point among students who frequently switch between mobile phones and laptops while using university portals.
For students with unstable mobile internet, attempting the IA carelessly could become risky.
Mock Test May Become More Important Than Students Think
Many students usually ignore mock tests assuming online MCQ systems are simple.
But this time, several students are realizing the mock test may actually help avoid confusion during the real assessment.
One important detail many students may miss is the “Submit” condition.
According to the instructions, the submit option will only appear after all questions have been attempted.
Students rushing through the assessment without understanding the portal properly may waste valuable time during the final submission process itself.
DU SOL IA Portal Login Details
Students can access the assessment through:
- pragyan.oldcdu.ac.in
- Official SOL website
For login, students must use:
- SOL Roll Number
- Barcode credentials used during admission
The university has also advised students to preserve screenshots of obtained IA scores until semester results are officially declared.
Experienced SOL students already know why this matters.
Sometimes result discrepancies or technical issues appear later, and screenshots can become useful proof during clarification requests.
Technical Support and Helpline Assistance
The university has also shared helpline numbers and physical support centres for technical assistance, including separate support locations for male and female students in Delhi.
Students facing portal issues are being advised not to wait until the last day.
Why This Internal Assessment May Matter More Than Students Expect
As the IA window gets closer, the overall atmosphere among Semester-II students is clearly shifting from casual awareness to serious preparation.
The reason is simple.
Internal Assessments are no longer being viewed as optional academic formalities. For many students, they are increasingly becoming an important scoring opportunity that could influence the final semester outcome in a meaningful way.
And with no extension expected after 19 May, students are likely to keep closely following every new update, portal instruction, and assessment-related clarification in the coming days.
